What is the Water Dripping Outside when my Air Conditioner is Operating?

The water dripping outside when your air conditioner is operating is likely condensation from the cooling process. As the air conditioner cools the air inside your home, it also removes moisture from the air. This moisture collects on the cooling coils inside the unit and then drips outside through a drain line. This is a normal process and helps to remove excess moisture from the air, preventing mould and mildew growth.

If the water is not going down the drain pipe to a waste point then this is not to code and a proper drain will need to be installed.
