Use Our Expert Air Conditioning Usage Tips To Save Money

1. Regular Maintenance

First and foremost, maintenance is key. And it should be done on a yearly basis by a professional. It is like going for regular checkups at the doctor rather than waiting for the time when you need surgery.

The middle of summer is the worst time to have air conditioning serviced. Consider the shoulder seasons, like Spring, as the time to get your air conditioning system serviced.

2. Clear Return Air Filters

A simple thing you can do yourself is clean your return air filters. The cleaner a return air filter is, the more efficiently your system runs. If you have a blocked filter, your air conditioner is working two to four times as hard to distribute the same amount of air in order to cool your home or office.

3. Install an Electronic Thermostat

An old-style mechanical type thermostat will be costing you money. A new electronic type thermostat looks great but also provides a more accurate temperature control saving you money. If you don’t have an electronic type thermostat, they are an affordable update you should consider.

Programmable electronic thermostats also provide you with the option of setting up a daily schedule. If you know you’re out of the house from 8 am to 5 pm, for example, there’s no reason to keep your air conditioning at around 21 – 23°C. So just set it a couple of degrees higher in the thermostat setting for a few hours while no one is around … it is going to save money instantly.
